Partners keep the deal they signed up under

Commissions are now locked to the terms in place when a referral was attributed — changing your rate never rewrites a partner's past earnings.

Why we built it: a founder pointed out that editing a program's commission rate shouldn't silently change what partners already earned — the terms a partner joined under should hold.

Until now, changing your commission rate recalculated every partner's history against the new rate. That's rarely what you want — a partner who joined at 30% shouldn't quietly drop to 20% because you adjusted the program later.

Now every referral captures the exact commission terms in force at the moment it's attributed, and commissions are always computed from that snapshot. Change your program, an affiliate's custom rate, or a commission group, and existing partners keep the deal they were signed up under. No surprise pay cuts.

When you do want to move a partner onto new terms, their profile gives you two clear options. "Apply going forward" from a date you pick changes the rate only for future charges — already-earned commissions are never clawed back, which is the right way to adjust a rate. "Apply retroactively" recomputes their whole history at the new rate, for when you're being generous. Either way, it's a deliberate choice, never a silent one.
